Programmable delay on portals and vehicle automatic acceleration (maintain speed)

I wish a delay on this devices.

I think it is minor change only: portal can not contain vehicles but has a delay before places it to the other side. No need to reduce speed, simply hang up vehicle instead.

Maybe one plus thing: in simulation mode portal makes invisible current (entering) vehicle or reduce size to zero, so next vehicle or trailer can enter and does not occupy roads.

Vehicle automatic acceleration is more realistic with delay (driver reaction time).

Random numbers are also acceptable on both cases.

Thank you in advance!

p.s: sorry my poor English and no Deutsch.

I fear it is significantly more complex than you think, Leslie. A portal is simply a joint between to track ends which are not adjacent to each other. It acts exactly like any other track joint. And track joints cannot store vehicles. They merely pass them on to the next piece.

I understand your wish (and others before you requested the same). May I suggest that you use depots instead? They are suitable for your purpose.

Kind regards
Goetz

It can't, Leslie, because it would require storage. And more importantly, waggons that are pushed (rather than pulled) by an engine have no push, when after a delay they come out at the other end, while the engine is still held back. Waggons have no motor and don't move without an engine pushing or pulling them. (Except on a slope, where gravity is the pulling force.)

There is no "move" command that can be delayed. When reaching the end of one track, vehicles are position at the beginning of the next piece. That is what happens at every track joint. The portal allows this behaviour over a distance, pretending that the two track ends meet. The important issue here is, that the complete train is unbroken.

But the depots act as storage, which is mandatory for any form of delay. If you want to hold something back, you need to keep it somewhere for the duration.

Kind regards
Goetz
