  1. Hello Neo, Thank you for the link to upgrade 3D train studio.  The upgrade installed, but there was no Setup.txt file created.  Instead, I got a popup with the following message: Unable to execute file C:Program Files (x86)\3D Train Studio\ModellbahnStudio.exe CreateProcess failed; code 740. The requested operation requires elevation.   I'm not sure what went wrong, but the upgrade was installed. Thank you, David (A.K.A.) Bad Attitude
  2. Sorry if this questions has been addressed elsewhere.  I only speak English, so I can't read the majority of the forum.

  4. I have 2 questions:   1. When I try to use the "Kindereisenbahn" from the "3D Models > Scenery > Theme Park", there is a question mark instead of an engine.  What's up with that?   2. If I build an object using the game's primitives, such as a building.rail car, etc., save the object to my catalog, then use the object from my catalog on a different layout I've built and try to share with others, I get the following message: Sharing content "(Layout name)" references additional content which is not shared to other users.  If you continue, the content will be replaced by placeholders. I assume the "placeholders" are the question marks I see on other people's layouts I've checked out, and that other people will only see a question mark instead of the scratchbuilt item. Some scratchbuilt items require hundreds of individual primitives, so using multiple scratchbuilt items requires using them from my catalog instead of using the original item to prevent freezing the program due to excessive memory usage. Scratch building and sharing layouts is part of the fun of model railroading, both in real life and computer simulation games. Is there a way to make scratchbuilt objects visible to others once they are saved and used later from the catalog?
  5. I'm getting a notice that there is a new upgrade, but when I try to install it, I get a popup saying "This program does not support the version of Windows your computer is running".  I'm running Windows 7 and have no desire to upgrade to another version of Windows.   Is there a way this upgrade can be made compatible with Windows 7?   Thanks, Bad Attitude
  6. Thank you EASY.  Maybe some day I'll learn more about computers and be able to figure things out.
  7. Me again.   OK, I made a Peterbilt truck out of primitives.  I grouped it all together once it was complete.  I selected the grouped object, went to the menu, selected catalog, 3D models, new, selection, and.... now what?
  8. Thank you BahnLand and Neo for the replies.  I'll look into the Sketchup information and see if I can figure it out (I'm not a computer guru unfortunately).  The information on the primitives should be a great help in keeping my computer's memory from going over the edge as I design new items.    Thank you both again, BadAttitude 77
  9. I have a question related to the Sketchup question.  If someone creates an object, such as a building or a vehicle, with Sketchup, and then shares the project, will others be able to see the created item, or will it show up as a question mark? Also related to this topic are the game's primitives.  Building an object with primitives can require hundreds of individual pieces.  I've built a passenger station, an oil refinery, and 6 Peterbilt trucks with trailers.  I can't begin to count the number of individual pieces I've used (one truck and trailer requires over 60 individual pieces, and that's with minimum detailing on them). The computer's memory usage is off the scale when viewing these items in 3D mode.  Is there a way to take a model built with the game's primitives and convert it into a single object? If the answer to both of the above questions is no, then why not make a separate 3D studio where those of us who like to scratchbuild custom objects can do so, save them as a single object, and then share them with others so they can be seen and even saved.  I'm sure other's have scratchbuilt objects that I would like to use, and others may like to use some of the things I build.
  10. Thanks Modellbahnspass.  I'm actually in the process of scratchbuilding some engines.  Since the EMD GP-class and SD-class Diesel Locomotives are longer than the Tegernsee-Lok, and the body is more narrow than the rest of the diesels, I'll be using the Schwerlastwagen kurz, Schwerlastwagen, or Container Wagon lang for the trucks, and an invisible Sattelzug-Zugmaschine-Fahrgestell as the drive unit.   I hadn't thought about using the Diesellok (rot) for EMD F and E Cabs.  Thanks for the idea, I'll give it a try.
  11. I've just purchased the professional version, so I'm not sure if there is a suggestion area or not, so I'm posting this here.   I'm happy with the professional version, especially the primitives since I prefer to scratch build structures, but there are a few things 3D-Train Studio could use.  One is a curved primitive.  The uses are almost limitless, such as archways for scratch built buildings, but it would be great for making curved train bridges and trestles.  Since curved rail can already have their angle and radius adjusted, would it be much harder to create a primitive with these capabilities, and the ability to set the height and width? Also, how about a little more variety in the diesel locomotive section such as the EMD GP-class and SD-class Diesel Locomotives, and the EMD F and E Cabs?  These are probably the most popular cabs in the United States, and they would definitely be appreciated by your American audience.  I was even hesitant to buy the professional version because of the limited variety of diesels, so I imagine there have been other prospective American buyers who didn't purchase the professional package for this reason. Also, your rolling stock is very dated.  You could use some modern boxcars, hoppers, and other equipment.
