I'm not sure if this is possible or not, but something that would be nice to see is a gradual or partial change in track texture?

See how on the prototype the the unused rails are a lot rustier than the ones that see regular traffic, and how that rust extends almost to the end of the blade?

Would it be possible to make a texture for track that did the same thing? Or somehow separate the curved rails from the straight ones?

The ballasting on the above snip, I did "manually", to see if I could. Lay track on the 0-height baseboard, without ballast, then raised the board by 16 cm (at 1:1 scale) and paint the ballast on. This saves the abrupt and "unrealistic" change in track texture that can clearly be seen in the prototype photo..... Er? Wait... Um? Never mind!

 

Sehen Sie auf dem Prototyp, dass die unbenutzten Schienen viel rostiger sind als die, die dem normalen Verkehr ausgesetzt sind, und wie sich dieser Rost fast bis zum Ende der Klinge erstreckt?

Wäre es möglich, eine Textur für eine Spur zu erstellen, die dasselbe tut? Oder irgendwie die gebogenen Schienen von den geraden trennen?

Ich habe das Ballastieren auf dem obigen Ausschnitt "manuell" durchgeführt, um zu sehen, ob ich es tun könnte. Legen Sie die Gleise ohne Schotter auf die Grundplatte in Höhe 0, dann heben Sie die Platte 16 cm an (Maßstab 1:1) und färben Sie den Schotter ein. es ist schon mit den heute im Katalog enthaltenen Gleisen und Texturen möglich, ein von einem befahrenen Gleis abzweigendes Abstellgleis rostig aussehen zu lassen. Anbei eine kurze Anleitung, wie man eine rostige Abzweigung herstellt:

Als Ausgangssituation sei ein befahrener Gleisabschnitt vorgegeben, bei dem über eine Weichenverbindung zwischen Ein-und Zweigleisigkeit gewechselt wird. Parallel zum eingleisigen Abschnitt existiere ein über eine zusätzliche Weiche angeschlossener Gleisstummel, der bereits ziemlich verrostet und zugewachsen ist.
The initial situation is a used track section where a switch connection is used to switch between single and double track. Parallel to the single-track section, there is a stub track connected via an additional switch that is already quite rusty and overgrown.

Es wird empfohlen, als Gleissystem das "Vorbild-orientierte" Gleis zu verwenden, da hier eine Variation mit etwas abgesenktem Gleisbett existiert.

Die Textur für das "verwahrloste" Gleis existiert im Texturen-Katalog als Gleistextur und kann als "Tauschtextur" auf den Gleisstummel aufgelegt werden. Bei den "zugewachsenen" Gleisstexturen sind auch die Schienen "verrostet".
The texture for the "neglected" track exists in the textures catalog as a track texture and can be applied to the track stub as an "exchange texture". With the "overgrown" track textures, the rails are also "rusted".

Um nicht erst die Gleisstücke hinter der Weiche, sondern auch schon die nicht befahrenen Schienen innerhalb der Weiche rostig aussehen zu lassen, wird der zum Abstellgleis führende Gleisstrang der Weiche im 3D-Modelleditor bis direkt hinter die Weichenzungen gekürzt.

Das Gleisbild sieht anschießend so aus, wobei die Weiche zum verbliebenen Gleisstummel weiterhin voll funktionsfähig ist.

Die Lücke wird mit einem einfachen Gleisstück geschlossen.

Nun lässt sich das Stumpfgleis bis zur Weichenzunge mit der Tauschtextur für das "verwahrloste" Gleis einfärben, ohne dass die andere Spur der Weiche hiervon betroffen wird.

Da im Weichenbereich das Gleisbett der befahrenen Spur immer"sauber" aussehen soll, muss das Gleisbett des Stumpfgleises hier etwas abgesenkt werden. Hierfür wird die bei dem "Vorbild-orientierten" Gleissystem vorhandene Variation "G16 Gleis mit niedriger Bettung" hergenommen. Damit ist bei der Weiche auch nur jener Teil rostig und zugewachsen, der nicht im Bereich der befahrenen Weichenspur liegt.

Thank you. I have no idea why I didn't work that out for myself as I managed to create the catch-point shown in the photograph easily, the same way (reduce the angle to 5°).

Now to try it out!

Just because, more as an exercise in doing the scenery...:

It doesn't actually do anything, I just wanted to see f I could make a model that was a close to the photo as possible... I can still see a few things I could tweak to get it closer, but it's never going to be the same , so I'm happy.
