Hello, even it is related to V8, it is posted here.  If a kind member has some time, can he/she explain the switch between global and local axes. If possible with a little explanation of the benefits. Sorry for my ignorance. Thanks in advance.

Kind regards, Herman

global means relativ to the world:

local means relative to the selected object:

And with that information, I'm sure you can figure out the purpose?

Hallo @Herman,

I will soon expand the instructions for the new cross beams. These are to be built up in a curve and this works best with the local axes.

Hello @Goetz , I did know the difference, but put that question here because I could not figure out the purpose. Sorry. But thank you, maybe my euro banknote will fall soon ? ;)

Hello @Roter Brummer , thank you for your answer, I look forward to your Cross Beams.

Kind regards, Herman

Sorry - I thought it might become obvious when you compare the two pictures.

Imagine, you want to move the track sideways. to build a second parallel track.
Which of the two gismos would be more appropriate?

Imagine you want to move everything a bit further north, because you want more space south of the tracks.
Which gismo would be more suited?

no problem - I'm happy to help.
But I sometimes need more than one attempt to figure out what it is that eludes the questioner.
