I happened across the Trix catalogue link, posted by @prinz (thanks for that...), and was curious, as my very first trainset was a Trix Twin, a Christmas present sharing with a younger brother (the clue is in the 'Twin'; two trains could be controlled on the same rails, thanks to a middle rail...). Despite being all in German, I enjoyed looking at the layouts and track plans. One in particular caught my attention : a series of modular panels, to compose different layouts by combinations. Ich bin auf den Trix-Kataloglink gestoßen, der von @prinz gepostet wurde (danke dafür ...) und war neugierig, da mein allererster Zug ein Trix Twin war, ein Weihnachtsgeschenk für einen jüngeren Bruder (der Hinweis ist in der ' Twin“; dank einer Mittelschiene konnten zwei Züge auf den gleichen Schienen gesteuert werden...). Obwohl ich alle auf Deutsch war, habe ich es genossen, mir die Anlagen und Gleispläne anzuschauen. Eines hat meine Aufmerksamkeit besonders erregt: eine Reihe von modularen Paneelen, um verschiedene Layouts durch Kombinationen zusammenzustellen. Could I try to make such a panel, I asked myself..? Hmm... Possibly, if the relevant track sections are in the MBS Catalogue. After some searching, I finally 'decoded' the track references, and traced them to the Trix N-scale folder. A quick check showed me that all the parts were there. Here's the panel I chose to attempt...

Könnte ich versuchen, ein solches Panel zu machen, fragte ich mich..? Hmm... Eventuell, wenn die entsprechenden Gleisabschnitte im MBS-Katalog stehen. Nach einigem Suchen habe ich schließlich die Trackreferenzen "entschlüsselt" und sie in den Trix N-scale Ordner zurückverfolgt. Ein kurzer Check zeigte mir, dass alle Teile da waren. Hier ist das Panel, das ich für den Versuch ausgewählt habe...

It took about an hour to build this, with very little fettling required ( a couple of elements are not clearly marked, but, thanks to the flexibility of the 'virtual' parts, it wasn't all that difficult...
I hadn't paid attention to the drawing, though, and hadn't bargained for a rising level for the left side of the module. I soon saw the necessity, though, as I had to try another module (as one does, naturally...). This second one has a spiral, to raise the level; I had to go back to the first and invent a method of incline to get it to join. Not the most elegant, but it worked...
Why stop there, then..? An evening passes, with the rest of the modules coming together quite swiftly. Here they all are, as separate modules, then all joined up...

Es dauerte ungefähr eine Stunde, um dies zu bauen, wobei sehr wenig Putzen erforderlich war (ein paar Elemente sind nicht klar gekennzeichnet, aber dank der Flexibilität der "virtuellen" Teile war es nicht allzu schwierig ...
Ich hatte jedoch nicht auf die Zeichnung geachtet und nicht mit einem höheren Level für die linke Seite des Moduls gerechnet. Die Notwendigkeit sah ich jedoch schnell, da ich ein anderes Modul ausprobieren musste (wie man es natürlich tut...). Dieser zweite hat eine Spirale, um das Niveau zu erhöhen; Ich musste zum ersten zurückkehren und eine Neigungsmethode erfinden, um sie zum Verbinden zu bringen. Nicht das eleganteste, aber es hat funktioniert...
Warum dann hier aufhören...? Ein Abend vergeht, und die restlichen Module kommen recht schnell zusammen. Hier sind sie alle, als separate Module, dann alle zusammengefügt...

Once all assembled, it needs a train or two, doesn't it..? I agree; here's a video of the complete assembly. Yes, I know; it needs terrain and decor. That'll come, once it's been 'proven'. The video is in three parts. Firstly, the tiny yellow service loco is used to test each and every part of the layout. In the video, it does its job very well, as it stops at a broken join, which requires fixing. Next, my TGV does a complete run around the main loop, followed by a driver's eye view.

Wenn alles zusammengebaut ist, braucht es ein oder zwei Züge, oder? Ich stimme zu; Hier ein Video vom kompletten Zusammenbau. Ja, ich weiß; es braucht Gelände und Dekoration. Das kommt, sobald es „bewiesen“ ist. Das Video besteht aus drei Teilen. Zunächst wird mit der winzigen gelben Dienstlok jeder Teil der Anlage getestet. Im Video macht es seine Arbeit sehr gut, da es an einer gebrochenen Verbindung stoppt, die repariert werden muss. Als nächstes macht mein TGV eine komplette Rundfahrt um die Hauptschleife, gefolgt von einer Fahrerperspektive.

 

Altogether a pleasing experiment, and an entertaining evening. I'll have a go at scenery, and maybe some Track Contacts and such; I'll also try assembling a different configuration from these same elements. Goodness knows how much this would have cost as a 'real' train set; I certainly couldn't have dreamt of such a circuit as a child's Christmas present, back then..!

Insgesamt ein erfreuliches Experiment und ein unterhaltsamer Abend. Ich werde Landschaften ausprobieren und vielleicht ein paar Track-Kontakte und so weiter; Ich werde auch versuchen, eine andere Konfiguration aus denselben Elementen zusammenzustellen. Gott weiß, wie viel das als 'echter' Zug gekostet hätte; Von einer solchen Schaltung als Kinderweihnachtsgeschenk hätte ich mir damals sicher nicht träumen lassen..!

I also looked at the 69010 Minitrix guide and spontaneously started to recreate Appendix 35 on page 60. I even have some color (laugh)

Well, it's a start (and I don't think the TGV will be passing through here..!).
