Hallo @Neo,

Unfortunately these should also be checked, so what is the difference?

But there could be an "other" or "draft" area in the catalogue where they would be.

Hallo @Thomas_103,

@streit_ross .... Do I understand correctly, that the models in the two pictures WERE NOT submitted for the catalog. They seem of quality enough to me.

If they are not suitable for the catalog, then what is ? Could models be submitted in the MODELS or LAYOUTS forums for the general populist to share?

(I haven't looked thru it yet .).

@streit_ross ... would appreciate if you sent your models to me ...

Quality is not just a matter of looks, hmclay. Technical aspects play a role too.

Guess I understand ... Are there published specs for what is considered acceptable for the catalog, or is it the discretion of a committee ?  Just curious !

Catalog is good .... hard to find certain items ... Needs more American Stuff ( IMO only )

The WIKI is your best source of information. And the "commitee" is Neo

OK ... I'm guessing "NEO" has supplied most of the catalog then. Are there plans for expansion of the catalog ?

No hmclay, most of the catalog contents are contributions from users. Neo himself doesn't have the time to build models.
The catalog is always expanding, because we have some very eager and talented model creators among the users.

A model's info panel tells you who built it, if you're curious to find out who made what.

Hi

I am clearly no expert on these matters but my understanding of what can and cannot be included in the catalogue largely depends upon the number of vertices and polygons that make up the model plus the licence approval from the original model maker. Some time ago another member Dad3335 very kindly supplied me with several models that have fitted nicely into several layouts but I understand in their current form would be unacceptable for the catalogue. They all run very nicely in my layouts and I would be more that happy to supply these to any other members who might like to use them.

I've attached a screenshot of some that I am currently using.

Kind regards

Pete

Hallo @220hotwheels ,

You must export your layout as an mbp.file to a folder of your choice. If someone wants to have your layout, they must send you a personal message with their mail-address. Then you can send them a reply email with the file attached.

Kind regards

Hi streit_ross

Many thanks for that. I appreciate that is what I would need to do if it were necessary to provide the full layout with each of the none catalogue models but I have these saved separately as .mbe files in a folder headed "models not in the catalogue" and if I need to use one I simply import it through the program. Am I to assume that should someone want a copy of a particular model then I would still need to send this as a personal message via email as .mbe files are not accepted via the forum?

Kind regards

Pete

you can also pack one or more .mbe-fies into a .zip-file, which then can to be added as ab attachment to the forum message (if it does not exceed 4 MB).

Please take into account, that if you share a layout as an .mbp-file, which contains models not published in the online catalogue, this will lead to question marks when the layout is loaded by another user. This is also true if the user has downloaded the .mbe-files and imported them to the online catalogue, because these will get other content-ids than the originally uploaded models from you. So, the user has to exchange all such models from the layout by hand by the imported models to get them visible within the layout.

Many greetings
